► (1790-1869) Político y poeta romántico francés. Respecto a su carrera política es necesario señalar su clara tendencia liberal. En la revolución de 1848 no logró acceder al poder debido a su pusilanimidad. Autor de Primeras meditaciones poéticas (1820), Nuevas meditaciones (1825), Harmonías poéticas y religiosas (1830), Jocelyn (1836) (novela en verso), Graciela y Rafael y Confidencias (1849).

Poeta y estadista francés. Luego de un corto período en el ejército de Luis XVIII, se volcó a la literatura, y escribió tragedias y elegías en verso. Es recordado sobre todo por su primer poemario, las musicales y evocativas Meditaciones poéticas (1820), que lo consagraron como una figura clave del romanticismo francés. Desde 1830 participó activamente en política, erigiéndose como vocero de la clase trabajadora. Después de proclamada la Segunda República en 1848, encabezó brevemente el gobierno provisional hasta que la revolución fue aplastada. En sus últimos años publicó novelas, poesía y obras históricas en un vano intento por evitar la bancarrota.
